There is a program called Al-Anon that is helpful for anyone who is worried about someone with a drinking problem. There are people with drinking problems and people without drinking problems in Al-Anon. The only criteria really is that you are worried about someone with a drinking problem. It’s cheesy and formulaic and generous and mind bending and so many other things. You show up because you’re worried about someone else and you end up learning a lot about yourself. Now this is a sophisticated scam. It’s life changing.
